Data protection in the digital era has become a crucial issue in Indonesia, along with the increasing use of information and communication technology. This paper discusses the legal challenges faced in the implementation of personal data protection laws, including the lack of public awareness and inadequate legal infrastructure. In this context, an analysis of the newly adopted Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law) is essential to understand how the regulation can address the threat of cybercrime and privacy violations. Through case studies, this paper explores several significant data breach incidents and the legal responses taken by the government and related institutions. By comparing the Indonesian legal framework with best practices in other countries, this study provides recommendations for strengthening data protection and increasing public awareness. The results of the study are expected to contribute to the development of more effective policies in the field of data protection in Indonesia.
