Abstract

Digitalization in education is an important solution to improve the quality of learning, but its implementation in indigenous communities faces challenges such as limited digital infrastructure and access to technology. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of technology-based education in the Osing tribal community in Banyuwangi, especially in Licin Village. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through interviews with teachers, traditional leaders, and policy makers, participant observation, and documentation studies. Thematic analysis techniques were used to identify patterns and main themes related to the implementation of technology in education and its relationship to local culture. Data triangulation was carried out to ensure the validity of the findings. The results showed that technologies such as e-learning and video-based learning materials were well received by educators and students. However, its implementation is still constrained by limited internet access and inadequate devices. Local teachers showed creativity in aligning the use of technology with Osing culture, such as incorporating cultural elements into digital materials to maintain students' cultural identity. In conclusion, the integration of technology in the education of the Osing tribal community shows great potential in supporting learning while preserving local cultural values. However, improving digital infrastructure and training teachers based on culture-friendly technology are needed to overcome existing obstacles. This research contributes to the literature on technology-based education in indigenous communities and provides policy recommendations to support inclusive and sustainable educational transformation.
